Studio History

Recording Studio A

In 1969, the group of studio musicians known as the "Swampers" parted ways with Rick Hall and FAME Studios and opened their new recording studio located on Jackson Highway aptly named Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. The Jackson Highway studio cranked out the hits for over a decade until April 1979 when the Swampers closed down the Jackson Highway location and moved to the larger and more updated location at 1000 Alabama Ave. For over 25 years, they continued to produce some of the most iconic performers such as Bob Seger, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Julian Lennon, Glenn Fry of the Eagles, Jimmy Buffett, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Delbert McClinton, Dire Straits, George Michael, Etta James, Jimmy Buffet, and countless others.

In 2005, this complex was purchased by a movie production company owned by Tonya S. Holly and was renamed Cypress Moon Studios. Since then, the recording studios have remained fully operational and has retained it's magic for producing not only amazing albums and singles, it has been involved in numerous film casting, production, and soundtrack projects.

Studio Reviews

"I have been to 2 concerts here. It is a great Venue where you can see quality. musicians. Tonya is such a gracious host to allow you into in a piece of music history. Just being in Studio A where so many hits were recorded will put chill bumps on a Rock and Roll purest. The best hidden venue in the South."

"This place has an Awesome atmosphere with a Historical feeling when we walked in including the recording studio still intact where a lot of the legendary songs were recorded! The owner was super nice to us and she obviously has a great ear for music because the band she had there was very talented and entertaining! Thanks for a memorable time! We will be back!."
